Sheffield City Council and Veolia have confirmed that they plan to empty bins as normal today. Where safe to do so, residents are advised to leave their bin out until they have been emptied.
The situation will continue to be reviewed throughout the day and if snow and ice becomes too severe bin collections may be impacted.
Dean Ford, Regional Director for Veolia Sheffield, said: “Snow and ice can lead to unsafe conditions on roads and footpaths, making it difficult for our crews to empty bins. We must always prioritise the safety of our colleagues and the community, and in some circumstances, this can mean unavoidable delays to bin collections.”
