Additional garden waste collections planned

Sheffield’s garden waste recycling customers will receive one additional green bin collection between 22nd November and 3rd December. 

This additional collection is to account for the two-week suspension of green bin collections in July, which meant that customers missed out on one of their scheduled collections.

Garden waste recycling customers are advised to put their green bin out on their usual collection day on their normal two weekly rotation. 

Customers of the service are advised to look out for an email informing them of their additional collection, however, you can check your additional collection day in the table below or use our collection day finder at wasteservices.sheffield.gov.uk/

Customers who are not signed up to receive email alerts will receive a letter through the post advising them of their additional collection. 

Steve Newman, General Manager for Veolia Sheffield said: 

“We were disappointed to have to temporarily suspend garden waste collections due to staff shortages caused by COVID earlier this year. We always look to provide our residents with the best possible service, and so we’re happy to be able to offer customers an additional collection at the end of this year's service.

“We appreciate the continued understanding from Sheffield’s residents, and especially the support shown to our frontline workers, in what has been a challenging couple of years.”

All five Household Waste Recycling Centres in Sheffield remain open, however, winter opening hours are now in place with sites open from 9.30am until 3.30pm.  Residents are advised to check opening days before visiting.
