▁▁▁
Access to the Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) at High Green will be restricted on 19 April, so residents are asked to schedule any planned visits for another day over the Easter weekend where possible.
▁▁▁
While residents will still be able to access the HWRC by passing through High Green village, access to Greaves Lane via the A61 will be blocked to accommodate participants taking part in an orienteering event nearby.
It is recommended that residents planning a trip to High Green HWRC this weekend should avoid 19th April or schedule their visit for quieter periods, which generally occur during the later part of the day. The Easter weekend is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year at the centres, as residents make the most of the four-day holiday period.
Residents can access any of the five HWRCs located across the city, which are open over Easter Weekend from 9.30am until 5.30pm. The locations of Sheffield’s HWRCs are:
- High Green, Greaves Lane, High Green, S35 4GR
- Shirecliffe, Longley Avenue West, Shirecliffe, S5 8WA
- Deepcar, Manchester Road, Deepcar, S36 2UU
- Beighton Road, Beighton Road, Woodhouse, S13 7PS
- Blackstock Road, Blackstock Road, Gleadless, S14 1FY
Residents are asked not to queue outside the sites as this can pose a potential danger for other road users. Drivers found queuing onto the roads will be asked to move away from the site entrance until the site is clear to enter.
The HWRCs accept a wide range of household waste for recycling, including electrical appliances, furniture, garden waste, textiles, glass bottles and jars, wood, scrap metal, batteries, and even engine and cooking oil. For more information about what is accepted at these sites please visit: www.sheffield.gov.uk/waste
Top tips to remember when visiting your local Recycling Centre:
- If assistance is needed when on site, members of staff are always on hand to help.
- The sites are for the use of Sheffield residents for their own household waste only and are not for traders, who must use a properly licensed waste disposal site.
- A permit is required for those wishing to visit any of the sites in a van, 4x4 pick up, or trailer. Permits can be obtained free of charge via 0114 273 4567 or [email protected]
Residents with significant volumes of DIY waste and garden waste are encouraged to consider contacting a registered skip hire company.
Collections from households can be arranged for both garden waste and bulky waste services. For this, and up-to-date information about recycling and waste collections, residents can visit www.sheffield.gov.uk/waste or follow @Recycle4Shef on X.
