Don’t miss out on garden waste collections

Sheffield City Council, in partnership with Veolia, is reminding residents to sign up for, or renew, their subscriptions for the garden waste collection service by Sunday 11 February.

New subscribers will be able to take full advantage of all 19 collections between March and November 2024. By renewing now existing subscribers will guarantee all of their garden waste gets collected on time.

The service offers residents the convenience of fortnightly collections, eliminating the need to transport garden waste to household waste recycling centers or to arrange private removal services.

With over 10,000 residents already subscribed, the service provides a convenient solution for the collection and recycling of garden waste in Sheffield.

In 2023, almost 7000 tonnes of garden waste was collected from Sheffield households and taken to a local facility in South Yorkshire to be recycled into compost. This service is one of many that strives towards ecological transformation by helping residents recycle as much as possible.

Residents can visit www.sheffield.gov.uk/gardenwaste to sign up to the service and make a secure payment of £63.30. Those without access to a debit or credit card should contact Veolia on 0114 273 4567 to discuss alternative payment methods.

Subscribers will start to receive their 2024 'paid' bin sticker and a collection date calendar through the post from the week commencing 19 February.

Unwanted garden waste can also be recycled for free at any of the city’s five Household Waste Recycling Centres or at home by composting. Residents can buy a home compost bin by visiting: www.getcomposting.com
